Everyday Momma
WELCOME! I'M TARA
Have you ever felt like you were missing something--some piece of the puzzle about how to "do life" and get it right?
I survived the death of my first child, the birth of my rainbow baby, and divorce. I moved back home with my parents, began navigating the uncertainty of what I wanted to be when I grew up (yeah, I had this question at 45), and wondering how to approach single motherhood | dating | adult friendships | aging and all its wonders | physical, emotional, and financial wellness...the list is endless. What I was longing for was some sort of book showing me the way to make it all come together; a way to be the perfect mom, woman, friend, teacher...
Guess what? That book doesn't exist.
Luckily, though, I encountered some amazing women during my search who taught me to embrace the woman I am instead of searching for a way to become someone I am not. Slowly, I began to regain my confidence, self-worth, and joy for life. I went back to school to get my second Master's degree, taught at the collegiate level (once my dream job), and found my way back to me. So, here I am now--teaching middle school ELA (my new dream job), parenting the greatest 9.5 year old the world has ever known, and learning every day that life is what we make it, that goodness is a great thing (perfection is over-rated), and we all benefit from meaningful connection + kindness.

If you can relate on any of these levels, this space is for you. This is my personal invitation to the table, Momma. Bring your coffee, your tea, your wine | beer | cocktail. Come sit a while. Let's talk. Let's work through the messiness of it all--together.

We've got this!
INSPIRATION
A sign hangs in my living room that reads:

This is the beginning of a new day. You have been given this day to use as you will. You can waste it or use it for good. What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever; in its place is something that you have left behind ... let it be something good.

I read it every. single. day.

MISSION
After a few years of wrestling with my fear of failure (have you been there before?) I finally took the plunge to launch this site--my passion project. I invite you to join me in my quest for PERSISTENCE over PERFECTION, being a good mom, woman, human, friend, and cultivating an honest space for self-reflection and connection with other like-minded women. I am excited to dive in and celebrate all the wonderful Mommas out there while sharing the stories so vital to our interconnectedness as women.
